Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6
The St. Agnes PSR program was implemented over 20 years ago by Fr. Raymond Oge and Sr. Donna Marie Kist with the foundation being that parents are truly the first teachers of their child’s faith. Thus, the main goal of this program is to have a joint effort with the parents in teaching their child about the Catholic faith.
We have a great group of parishioners who serve as volunteer instructors. They work closely with both the parents and students so together, they can grow in faith. The Bible, Catechism, various forms of prayer, and building a relationship with Jesus Christ are all integral parts of the PSR program.
In addition to the class meetings, the children are encouraged to use their faith to help and serve others. Throughout the years students and their families have participated in the Christmas Shoe Box program, the Ronald McDonald House, St. Vincent DePaul, making plastic mats for the homeless, and much more.
The PSR classes are held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, August-May, ending the year with Mass. Enrollment has been on the rise for the past four years and additional help is needed.
